Welcome to the latest installment of Four Way Friday! As you know by now, each week here at Lessons In Style, you get to see one piece styled four ways in four different categories: Casual/Dressy Work, After Work, Casual Weekend, and Dress Weekend. You ready for this?
Dear Lessons In Style:
I have about four different kinds of white button up shirts in my closet. I usually wear them the same old way, with black dress pants or occasionally jeans on the weekend. It feels blah, boring, mundane, you get it. What can I do to make things a little bit more fun?
Don’t Want To Look Like a Cater Waiter in My White Shirt Anymore
Dear Cater Waiter No More:
A white button up is one of THE most versatile pieces you can own. I’m glad you asked, because it can be mixed up multiple ways! Before I show you some ideas, here are a few words to the wise about your white button up: Don’t invest a lot of money in this shirt. Because it’s white, you may end up replacing it every year or so and it makes no sense to spend a lot of money on something that will only be around for a while. Don’t over bleach your shirt. If you get stains on the shirt or makeup around the collar, let it soak in a baking soda mixture, or spray it with your preferred stain remover before washing. If you find you must bleach it, don’t bleach with every wash. It will turn the shirt yellow eventually. Don’t dry your shirt in the dryer, rather hang it dry. This will prevent it from losing its shape. With this button up, you will want it to look as sharp and crisp for as long as possible. When it starts to look dull and drab, it’s time for a new one.
Now, let’s take a ride around the Four Way Friday block!
1) Casual/Dressy Work White Button Up Shirt.
Depending upon your work environment, these may be too dressy or casual for your work needs.
2) White Button Up After Work
The key to making it after work appropriate is to add a cute clutch or dressy necklace. Any of these outfits below also work well with a black leather jacket.
3) White Button Up Casual Weekend
Casual layering pieces make the white button up less boring and serious for your weekend casual looks.
4) White Button Up Dressy Weekend
Don’t be afraid to layer a white button under a pretty sequin top and leather jacket, cocktail dress, leopard print trench, or fun faux fur vest.
See? It’s pretty versatile isn’t it? And anything but boring! Do you have any plans to try one of these outfits this weekend?
